What is Equine Assisted Wellness?EAW is a process in which horses are used to assist individuals in achieving specific wellness life goals. Horses are used to provide insight regarding an individual’s personal (self) observation and interpersonal observation, thusly facilitating the development of improved coping skills, rehabilitation, and growth. Horses offer instant response and insight regarding their environment and those within their environment. Horses have the same emotions as humans and are able to reflect and respond to humans in an accurate and non judgmental manner. Horses are not concerned who a person is, what they look like, or what they may have experienced. Horses are positively responsive to positive behaviors and emotions and are negatively responsive to negative behavior and emotions. HORSES NEVER LIE! In order to have an effective and positive relationship with a horse, one must develop positive coping and relationship skills allowing both horse and human to effectively interact and trust each other.
